The Institute for Biomedical Ethics at the University of Basel (IBMB) is a vibrant research and teaching center that engages in ethical issues relevant to medicine and the sciences. The Institute was founded in 2011 and is affiliated with both the Science and Medical Faculties at the University of Basel. The IBMB is a team of PhD students, post-docs and senior researchers working on a wide variety of projects in biomedical ethics. IBMB’s researchers are committed to an interdisciplinary endeavour and our research combines empirical fieldwork with normative, theoretical analysis. IBMB members are also highly involved in teaching, providing ethics courses for undergraduate students and postgraduate scientists and doctors.

The International Association of Bioethics (IAB) facilitates contact, networking and exchange of ideas and resources amongst those working in bioethics and related fields in different parts of the world.
With the World Congress of Bioethics the IAB organizes bi-annually the largest gathering of bioethics scholars and thought-leaders in the world.
